There's a trick to the 'graceful exit.' It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, or a relationship is over--and let it go. It means leaving what's over without denying its validity or its past importance to our lives. It involves a sense of future, a belief that every exit line is an entry, that we are moving up, rather than out.

To all the friends, family, customers, and associates of Stars & Stripes:
Robert and I would like to formally inform you that we have decided to close our store, Stars & Stripes. This has been a difficult decision for us both.
Mostly, we have come to enjoy those individuals who have come into our lives and enhanced them. It was never really about a business. It was always about the adventure of doing something different, as we have always done throughout our lives. As Robert has said hundreds of times, “I never want to be 85 years old, sitting in a rocking chair and wishing I had tried that!"
So as we have done many times in our lives, we took a chance.
To bring a business to this city steeped in American tradition was a blast. We committed ourselves and our resources to promoting an all exclusive American-made concept. To many of you that was important. To others, it was not. But that’s part of what makes our country and our society great. And we truly respect that choice. So we close with mixed emotions, but we know we are doing the right thing for our future. We close one door and we open another.
That’s who we are. No regrets, only appreciation for all those who came into our lives.
To our Customers: We gratefully thank you for your patronage.
To friends & family: Stay tuned.
To our staff: You made it all happen with your positive effort and dedication.
So our store still has plenty of merchandise. We intend to continue with our greatly reduced pricing structure to move all remaining inventory. So please come and take advantage of special discounting throughout the coming months for your holiday shopping needs.
Thank you all,
Jan and Robert Chevalier
